At the end of the third world you will see two turtles coming down. Let the first turtle go then jump lightly on the second
turtle so that it is standing still on the steps (this will take practice.)
Jump on the turtle again, if you do this right it will keep bouncing into the other turtle and give you points. After
a while it will give you free men. Get as many as you wish, but be careful not to get more than 100 men because if you do
when you die the game is over.
Extra Points

Warp to World 5
Make your way to the end of World 1-2 at the place where there's a pipe going to the next level. Break two blocks so there's
one at the end touching the pipe.
Now duck and jump backward toward the brick (don't break it!) If you did this right you should go through the wall and
pipe into a warp zone. Ignore the first pipe, then jump down the second pipe and you warp to World 5-1.
Warp to World 6, 7 or 8
When you get to world 4-2, go past the first set of ? blocks and the elevator. Jump the hole and you will see a small

Fire Power While Small
To do this you need to be big or have fire power. First you must be in the last level of any world except for 8. Then
you must jump on the little koopa and the hammer that retracts the bridge. You have to touch the hammer and koopa at the
same time for it to work. You will start flashing like you have been hit but you will stay big. When you get a mushroom in
the next world it wil make you small now go find a flower and you'll have Small Fire Power untill you die.
Save Your Place
Try holding start when you die, just after it's too late to pause. You should begin the level where you died.
Fire Power Skate
You must have firepower to make this work. Anytime you exit a pipe or start a level through a doorway, hold B and A. You
should automatically jump, and if done right, you'll be able to skate on one foot for a little while, as long as you hold
down B.
Super Mario Bros. 2
Luigi's Double Jump
Move Luigi next to an enemy and jump, then press jump again at the peak of Luigi's leap. If your timing was right he'll
jump even higher.
Warp to World 4
In level 1-3 go to the area just before the brick background. Pick up the plants until you get a bottle. Then go past
the brick background until you find a pot and throw the bottle on it. Go through the door and down the pot into World 4.
Warp to World 5
To warp to level 5, first get to level 3-1. When you enter the first door, fall all the way down. You also have to be
in the middle as you fall. When you stop, you will find a platform with a door. Enter the door, then you have to look for
the potion in the grass. Pick it up, then throw it on the ground, enter the door in cyberspace, and go into the vase and you
will be at level 5.
Warp to World 6
In level 4-2 In the area with the whales find a bottle and throw it on the next pot. Enter the doorway and go down the
pot into World 6.
Warp to World 7
Work your way to level 5-3. (It would be a good idea to choose Luigi for this level because of his superb jumping skills.)
Go up the ladder at the beginning of the level, and then jump up onto the ledge above the ladder. As soon as you get on top
of the ledge, grab the first grass on the right. It is a potion. Use the potion and go through the door. Now, while in Sub-space,
go down through the jar and voila! Now you're in Level 7!
Original Super Mario Theme Song
Get a magic potion. Hold it until a star shows up. Grab the star and put the potion down while you're still invincible.
Enter the door you just made and wait. Just before your invincibility wears off, exit the door and you'll hear the original
Super Mario Brothers theme song.
Super Mario Bros. 3
Extra Lives
Go to the first T shaped pipes in world 1-2. You need to have a tail so you can float in the air. There will be little
goombas coming out of the right end of the pipe. Go on to the ground near where all the goombas are coming out. Let three
or four come out before you do anyhting. Then jump on one of them so you bounce up into the air. When you are coming down
from that jump land on another one, and after you hit that land on another one. Keep doing this so you never touch the ground.
Once you hit one goomba, you will want to flap your tail so that you will provide more time for more goombas to come from
the pipe. Once you have stomped on eight in a row, you will get a one-up for every kill on after that.
P-Wing on Level 1-4
Collect all of the coins, then finish the level. A white moving mushroom house should appear. In the house there will
be a secret room with one treasure chest containing a P-wing.
Extra P-Wings
Beat the game. Afterwards, play again without turning the system off. You should have 28 P-wings.
Get to World Eight Quickly
To get to world Eight quickly. Make sure you at least have two whistles (3 if you want to be sure) Go to the World 4 warp
and use the whistle. (Don't go in!) If you use it at the World 2 pipe you should go to the 2nd row. If so, go to the 7th pipe
and use another whistle. You'll be at World 8.
Level 8 Shortcut
To beat the second board of level 8 easily, just swim under the boats until you reach the end.
Secret Whistles
At the end of level 1-3 before you go to the black screen you'll find a bunch of blocks in the air. Find the white one
and hold DOWN. When you fall through, run to the end and press UP. Hurry! If you do this correctly you will be in a secret
room. Open the chest to get a whistle with special powers!
In the miniature castle of world 1 get the P-Wing and keep flying. At the top you should go over a wall and stop moving.
Press UP to reveal another whistle!
You can also get this whistle by using a racoon suit. First take out the bone turtle, then go to the far right, start
to speed up using the b button. When you reach the left end (your flying power should be full)start flying upward until you
enter the secret room containing the whistle.
The 3rd Secret Whistle is in World 2. Beat a Wandering Hammer Brother and you'll get a music box or a hammer. Use the
hammer in the Top right area in the Desert (not the level) by the Pyramid it is all the way North of it. Use the hammer there.
You'll find a Wandering Fire Brother with the whistle along with a Toad's House with a Frog Suit in it.
Super Jump
Hold A+B for 5 seconds, then release them and hold UP.
Hidden Anchor
When you get to the desert level in Mario 3 you can find a secret anchor. All you have to do is go to board 2-2. To do
this right you have to get all of the coins. The only problem is that the last 4 or 5 are hard to get. You have to have a
tail and you hit the brick with the p-block in it. Jump off of the flying log. Swim to the beginning of the water. There should
be another log waiting for you. Be careful not to get hit the tail is very important! Get on the log and ride to the p-block.
Jump on it and all of the bricks will turn into coins. Stay on the log until you come to the flying turkey thing. Jump on
it and you should have the boost you need to get the last few coins. A white mushroom will appear on the first level in the
desert. In it is a chest with an anchor. The anchor will keep the boat in place if you die while playing it.

the wall, there will be a Vase or a Door that leads to 6-4.
How to go to Level 9 in Lost Levels
Play the game normally until you finish it, but don't use any warp zone. If you are forced to enter a warp zone, use save
and quit and return to the previous stage. When you beat Bowser in 8-4, you will go to the World 9-1, instead of A-1.
This is a crazy World, which contains absurd, as lakitu appearing inside of water. After beating World 9, you will go
to World A-1.
More Level Warps
WORLD 3-LEVEL 1:
Go to the door at the bottom. You will find yourself with a place full of waterfalls and clouds. Instead of going up,
jump down. Try to get as close to the middle as you can. If done correctly, you will land on a door instead of a pit. Go in
and pick up the potion. Go to the end, drop it, and go in the warp.
WORLD 5 - LEVEL 3:
When you start, pick Luigi. Go up the ladder. You'll see a warp place above up. Go near the end of the cliff and hold
down. After you start glowing, jump up toward the cliff. Pick up the potion, drop it, and go in.
Unlimited 1-ups in SMB3
You will need a leaf, not a p-wing. It won't work with a p-wing. In the fortress in world 2, at the very beginning, there
are three skeleton-koopas. Using the leaf's floating capabilities, you must create a destroying pattern that allows you to
destroy one at a time in a cycle continuously. You float and stomp on one as you hold b to bounce higher, float down and stomp
on the next one, repeating the process. It takes much practice and patience so those with little tolerence should not even
bother with this.

Easy Turning
When you are going around a turn especially when you're on a dirty track, just hold the direction you are turing and rapidly
tap the gas button. This helps a LOT when you're worried about skidding.
Deflecting Red Shells
In battle mode, whenever someone has a red shell that is on your tail, this IS the perfect chance to use 1 of 6 moves
to save your balloons.
First, if your current power is a ghost, before the second person can fire. This will steal away his power and give you
the power to shoot him. Don't worry, you are still momentarily invisible from sight, he can't see you but he can look on your
screen. Red shells can still hit if you are in range though.
Second, wait until the person fires until executing this move. When the red shell is right behind you, lay a green shell
by holding down and A. If the red shell was shot in a straight line or somewhat straight, then the laid green shell should
counter and deflect the red shell. Don't worry, if the green shell failed to hit your opponent, having him on your tail may
be to your advantage when he run across the green shell.
Third, instead of the green shelled power, if you have the banana peel, then you could also counter the shell just by
tapping A. Also, this move can be used by up and A. this will launch the peel straight forward for a distance. This move is
hard to make a direct hit but now a trap is laid.
Fourth, if the red shell has been shot, if you have the feather, DO NOT jump outside of the ring for protection. The player
could be waiting behind you to fire away. When the shell has been shot, if you execute the feather to momentarily leap high
in the air, if too early, when you land, the shell is probably waiting to hit. If you jump at the right second, the shell
will zoom past you and be useless. If you do not like this one, then you may like to try to jump across lanes to safety with
him on the other side shocked at the miss!
Fifth, you can set up a star power that only lst a short short while. This not only can destroy any obstacle it touches,
making it completely invulnerable from ANY attacks, it also can smash the opponents until they spin. If you stay on the opponent,
then as the star lasts, each of the three balloons will pop one-by-one. Shocked by the counter and the loss, this move is
very good.
Sixth, you can use a power slide to skip a lane fast enough to safety. This move is often too slow to make success, so
a mushroom should now be really handy. The mushroom will boost your speed, then slide out of the missile shells path.
All of these moves, with practice, will make a player almost untouched in any battle match.
Stall CPU Drivers
On Mario Circuit 2, get a mystery box, if you have a green shell or banana, wait until the jump. Lay the trap in between
the 2nd and 3rd zipper and, more likely than not, another driver will hit, miss the jump, and have to do it over. If you have
a red shell, wait until the driver is just about to hit the jump and use it. If you have a mushroom, wait again until they
are about to jump, use it, hit there back, and that will decrease their speed, resulting on them missing it, but you will
still make it.

How to Beat Jonathan Jones
To avoid fighting John the shark one-one-one or two-on-one, leave at least one blue bandana guy alive and destroy the
rest. This will prevent the one-on-one without letting Mario die. If this guy irritates you, use Toadstool's Sleepy Time on
him and keep him under until you're finished with Jonathan Jones.
Link Cameo

* Next go to the baby yoshi, who is now fat, feed him all the cookies to get a Yoshi Aid.
Yaridovich Mirage Attack Tip
When fighting Yaridovich in "Seaside", he will do a mirage attack (create a duplicate of himself.) Here's a
trick to find the real one.
* Put Mallow in your party.
* When Yaridovich does the "mirage attack", use Mallow's "thunderbolt" power on him.
* The double that takes the least damage from the attack is the real Yaridovich.
Troopa Pin
To get the Troopa Pin, go to the big cliff at "Lands End". There you will find "Sgt. Flutter". After
talking to him, climb the cliff by jumping on the troopa shells as quickly as possible. Do it in under (12:00:00) to get the

How to Beat Smithy
First, after beating the first three bosses before Smithy, go back through the level. If you didn't have the shiny stone,
then make sure you have 500 coins, buy the fireworks in Moleville and give them to the girl with the pretend market.
Afterwards, go to Tadpole Pond and buy megalixers from the froggie bar with your Saprano Card or Tenor Card, if you don't
have it, go to Toadofsky in the second or third turn.
Then, go to Monstro town and to the door with Culex in it. Defeat him with Mario, Geno, and Princess Toadstool. Use Toadstool's
Group Hug, Geno's Blast and Mario's Ultra Hammer or his Ultra Jump.
After beating him, you will recieve a Quartz Charm and equip it on Mario for better defense at the boss. Go back to Smithy
and make sure you have Mario, Geno, and Princess Toadstool and use the same stuff you used for Culex but, if everyone is almost
dead and the next blow will be Smithy's, use a megalixer.
At the first part of Smithy, use Geno's Blast on both Smithy and the monster generator. Concentrate your firepower on
the generator (not Smithy) with Mario's Ultra Hammer and use Princess Toadstool's Group Hug to heal the party. On the second
half, just use regular attacks on Smithy.
Three Musty Fears' Flags
There are three monsters you find in Monstro Town when you sleep in a bed. They each will hide their own flag somewhere
in the world. Here are their locations:
One flag is hidden behind the rose in Rosetown when you first enter. Another flag is hidden underneath Mario's green bed
in Mario's Pad. And another is hidden behind the sign in Yo'ster Island.
Ship Password

* The frying pan for the princess: To receive this weapon, beat Nimbus Land and go to Moleville. Walk into the store

pan which he is selling. I strongly advise you to buy it.

hidden on a new road. Climb the beanstalk and retrieve the goodies.
* Fertilizer and Seeds: The fertilizer is in nimbus land after you beat it on the far right were the guy was standing
walk up it until you find a invisible path way were it is.I think I remembr that the seed is in Bean valley on one of the
waterers.
* Juice club cards: These are given to you by the composer if you complete the melody. (The first one is found in
the big frog's chart on the lily pad.)
* Super Chomp: Go to the second set of Booster pictures in Booster Tower (the ones by the locked door.) Place them

How to get the Lambs Lure
To acquire the Lambs Lure, you have to use the "Mystery Egg" 10 times in battle, and Princess has to be wearing
the Bub "n" Tub ring. You can buy the Mystery Egg where you buy the Frying Pan. The Lambs Lure attempts to make
bad guys like Goomba's and Troopa's flee from battle with it's fuzzy charm. However, It won't work on bosses like Belome,
Axem Rangers, or Chesters.
Getting the Star Egg
The Star Egg...nice little toy, does 150 damage to everything and is NEVER, I repeat, NEVER used up. To get this item,
revisit Booster Tower and climb up until you reach Knife Guy. He is juggling many balls. Talk to him and play his game. I
believe it's the yellow ball you must find. To get the card to the Grate Guy's Casino you must win Knife Guy's game 12 straight
times. If you fail, say after 6 wins he still counts 5 in your favor, so keep going until you have 12 wins. Then, go to Land's
End. Down one of the pipes in the area with the save point you should find one of those gold colored Chomps. There is a hidden
platform around there, you must jump three times to make it show itself, then go up it and you'll be at Grate Guy's Casino.
Talk to Grate Guy over and over and over and...well, you get the point. After a while Grate Guy will challenge you to play
Look The Other Way. this time don't worry about winning consecutively, just win 100 times and he'll give you the Star Egg.
Marymore Suite
If you have at least 950 coins, you can go to the suite, and make a profit, in the form of KEroKerocola's. Buying for
150, reselling for 200. You can make a hefty profit. Also, they give you gifts for staying there every so often.
Unlimited Bracers & Energizers
To get free Energizers and Bracers, go to Yoshi Island, ride Yoshi and speak to the pink yoshi by the GOAL line to get
3 Yoshi Cookies (to summon Yoshi).
Next, go to the volcano and battle an Oerlikon (the puple spikey balls), or a Magmus (the shelled brown creature). Use
a Yoshi Cookie to summon Yoshi to transform the enemies into items. The Oerlikons give you Energizers, and the magmus give
you Bracers.
When you run out of Yoshi Cookies, speak to the pink Yoshi again to get three more.
Unlockable: Secret Items
* Attack Scarf: You must perform 30 consecutive Super Jumps in battle. Then talk to the dog in Monstro Town that counts
the number of times you jumped.
* Super Jacket: Perform 100 consecutive Super Jumps on an enemy in battle. Then talk to the dog in Monstro Town that
counts your jumps.
Fast Level Up
This is so you can get your party to max level BEFORE NIMBUS LAND! First get to lands end and get past the sand pits.
Then once in the cave TAKE OFF ALL ITEMS so all your active characters are bare. Then make sure you have 400 coins. If you
don't, go up and jump on the ants until you do. Then SAVE the game.
Hop down and get the chest run like crazy destroying everthing in the next rooms. This is much easier if you have exp.
Booster from the frog in seaside town.
Once you get to the hole hop down and go behind the boxes talk to the shaman that is hidden there, purchase the Star and
get all the lizards except for one and LET THE LAST ENEMY KILL YOU in battle. You will be warped to the save point but still
have kept the the EXP.!! Repeat this until all your characters have gotten to at least level 23-25 then once your satitfied
save do it one last time exept this time continue on to defeat Belome.
Easy Experience
Find an area where there is a Star in the box, but SAVE BEFORE YOU HIT THE BOX THAT CONTAINS THE STAR. Once you save,
get the star from the box, and start defeating enemies as much as you can with it. Then, fight an enemy and let it kill you--don't
save. If you get killed, you'll just return to the spot where you last saved and the points and levels you earned will still
be the same. When the enemy kills you, you'll return to the save box where you last saved and the box that contains the star
will be restored! Then repeat the steps over and over until your satisfied with your level. It is easier if you have Exp.
Booster item equipped. Here's a list of boxes containing a star where they're found:
* 1. Location: Bandit's way
Save on the Save Box in Bandit's way. There's a star in this stage.
* 2. Location: Kero Sewers
There is another star on this level. Do the same thing as the first location.
* 3. Location: Sea
In the Sea cave, there's another star. This is a good spot right here to use the hint. Where the star is, there
are many starfish lying on the floor but don't fight any. Get the star and kill them all with it.
* 4. Location: Land's End
In the cave of Land's End, there's a star. This is a great spot to level up. There are many enemies here. When you
enter the hole where there are 4 Chows, where there are many Geckits, behind the 4 crates, there is a sorcerer. Talk to him
(you need 400 coins) and buy the star from him and you can use the hint here. After you buy the star, if you have 800 coins,
buy another star (that is even better) and use the hint. The better star gains even more experience.
* 5. Location: Nimbus Land
In the castle of Nimbus Land, there's a short-lasting star. Grab the star and quickly kill the enemies and kill
Dodo (the big, fat, black bird). Dodo is worth a good amount of experience.
Super Mario World
Extra Lives - First Ghost House
In the first ghost house, fly up to the upper left corner. You will see a ledge. Run to the right and you will fall. Ghosts
will try to hurt you but keep on going. At the end of the ledge you will fall and there will be four extra guys. You will
have to hit the boxes to get them. Go though the door. There will be a Moon (3 lives.) After you beat it there will be a level
above the ghost house. Go to it. In it there is five boxes. The two left ones contain, flowers. The two right ones contain
feathers. The middle one has Yoshi. If you already have Yoshi then it will be an extra life. To exit, run off the screen.
Extra Lives - Vanilla Secret 2
Enter Vanilla Secret 2 and get to the half-way mark without killing any Koopa Troopers or the green jumping guys. Keep
on going until you reach a pit with a lot of spinny orange guys. There will be yellow blocks right above the pit. Hit the
blocks until you get a silver "P" switch.
Carry this switch a little past the half way mark until you reach two pipes with red guys jumping out of them. Put down
the "P" switch, step on it, and run back to the start of the level. While your running there will be a lot of silver
coins on the way. Get all the silver coins you can and you will gain 50+ lives!
Important: Be sure not to kill the Koopa Troopers (or the green junping guys) on the way to the "P" swich, those
guys turn into the coins that give you the lives.
Extra Lives - Yoshi's Island 1
Get a cape and go to Yoshi's Island 1. There is an area with one Rex on the hill and three more below it. After killing
them all, fly up and you'll find a Moon worth 3 lives sitting in the clouds.
Warp to Bowser Castle
On the last Star Road, press B. This will put you in the Valley of Bowser without beating castle #7.
Replay Castles
To replay any castle or fortress you've completed, hold L + R when entering.
Unlimited Lives
Go to the "Top Secret" level. Then, get the Yoshi from the block in the middle. Then, leave the stage. Finally,
keep going in and out of the stage, getting the middle block every time. A 1up should keep coming out of it.
Classic Music
In the "Special Zone", wait about 5 minutes and listen to the music. It should start playing variations of the
original Mario Bros. song!
Extra Lives - Forest of Illusion 1
For a total of fourteen lives do this. Go to forest of illusions 1 and get to the half-way mark and then keep going untill
you see a box with changing powerups. Now wait until you see a feather in the box. Then hit it and it should change into a
star. If you get the star, run and kill all the creatures that come out of the yellow blocks untill you start getting lives.
The turtles and other guys are worth one life and the wigglers are worth two lives. You can get 99 lives much faster this
way.

Final Level Playing Tip
The very last level is very hard unless you know a secret. The first couple of hits are easy because the whole plate is
still there. But when the sides fall out and form a star, this is what you do. Whenever Bouser runs at you do a side jump
right over his head. When the plate starts to tilt, find the running speed that will keep you in the exact same spot.
First Person View
Set your camera mode to "HOLD CAM" then, using the regular camera, look around by pressing C-Up. Now hold R
and press A or B. The Lakitu should be very close to Mario. Walk into the Lakitu to change your perspective. You can see your
surroundings, but you may see pieces of Mario.
Messed-up Room
After you get all 120 stars, shoot yourself onto the roof where Yoshi is. Then get the winged hat and jump off the roof.
Now go back into the cannon and shoot yourself back onto the roof only this time aim for the highest "tower" (in
the direct center of the castle). Go to the left side of the wall, facing the castle and before the perpendicular wall, and
do a jump-dive into the side of the wall. You should fall through the castle into a "black room" that is a major
glitch.
Quick Trip Downtown in Wet-Dry World
You DO NOT need the cannon to get stars 11-5 and 11-6 ("Going Downtown for 8 Red Coins" and "Quick Race
Through Downtown!"). To get a shortcut, jump in the painting to Wet-Dry World as high as you can. If you jumped high
enough, the water level should be at its peak. Now just swim over to the caged area and jump out; Mario should grab on to
the fencing. Just dive in and swim your way downtown!
Secret Aquarium
On course 3 jolly rancher bay go in the door and take a few steps and go to the right. Look up and there will be a dark
black square. Go in the square and you will go to the secret aqarium and get 8 red coins.
Penguin Rematch
When you get 120 stars return to Cool Cool Mountain for a rematch with the penguin. If you thought he was big before,
you'll be in for a surprise.
Owl Ride
To get a ride on an owl, go to Whomp's Fortress (Level 2) and pick "Shoot Into The Wild Blue" or a higher star.
Now climb the tree to your left and an owl will fly out. He will now let you ride him. But if you wait too long he'll tell
you to lay off the pasta and drop you.
Short-cut in Tall Tall Mountain
When you start out in Tall Tall Mountain don't go the usual way, instead go the other way behind you you will find a 1-up
and have to keep runing after you get it and immediately afterwards go towards the wall you will be on a upper part of the
level.
Shortcut to Star #6 in Cool, Cool Mountain
When you begin the level run past the cottage at the beginning and head to the platform where the snowman's body is. Near
there should be a guy that sorta looks like a flower (He has flower petals on his head) and jump on him. Mario will do his
helecopter spin. While Mario is spinning in air, He will decend slowly. Steer him towards the edge of the lowest platform
of the area. (I.E. the Platform where the Icicles hang from) DO NOT LAND ON THE PLATFORM!! Instead, decend under the ledge
and try to land on the Ice platform where star #6 rests. It's alot easier than using wall kicks to get it as labeled (Wall
Kicks will work)!!
Wet-Dry Wonders
They say that a picture's worth a thousand words. Apparently, the picture of Wet-Dry World is also worth a thousand valves.
You can control the level of water by the height of Mario's jump. If he jumps into the picture at a higher level, the water
level is higher (and visa versa.) You can save lots of mucking about by choosing the right height.
Unlimited Lives in Final Battle
When fighting Bowser for the third time, if you get killed you can keep getting a 1-Up by walking behind the top left
pillar.
Top of the World
After obtaining 120 stars and talking to Yoshi, Mario can climb up to the very tip of the steeple on the castle. Acquire
wings, climb into the cannon and shoot yourself as high up as you can, aiming at the steeple. Once you get to the lower ring,
you can climb up the wall that is on the left back side (northwest from above.) If you get to the exact top of the steeple,
you can triple-jump without running and fly incredibly high.
Teleport on Cool, Cool, Mountain
On the level Cool, Cool, Mountain where you start, turn right until you see a broken down bridge. Go to the very end of
the bridge and it will teleport you to another broken down bridge right next to the mother penguin. However you can't take
the baby penguin on this secret.
Shortcut to Star #4 on Lethal Lava
Go to Lethal Lava Land and pick Star #4. Find the Grating where Mr. I is waiting, then enter the hole. Wait and you will
warp to an island with a Wing Cap. Put it on, then do a triple jump and fly past the log onto the island with Star #4.
Koopa Race Shortcut
When you are racing Koopa the Quick in Bob-omb battle field, you can use a number of tricks to beat him. The first one,
after you go up the first bridge, you will see a flower patch on the other side of the fence.
Ignore Koopa and go into the flower patch. You will teleport to the other side of the course. You should go over the stone
bridge and you will see 3 boulders rolling in a small area. There is a hill with a red coin onit to the left of the boulders.
Go up the hill and you'll see Koopa going around the bend. Jump into the first cave on the path with boulders. You will
teleport to the second cave. Just go up the mountain the rest of the way. You will have beaten Koopa by at least 25 seconds.
This is a trick Koopa doesnt know about.
Unlimited Lives - Japanese Version
For infinite lives in the Japanese version, go to any of the Bowser bosses (the first is easiest). Run around Bowser and
collect 1,000 of the coins he drops. From now on when you die you will gain a life instead of losing a life.
Sliding Shortcuts
To improve your time on the Red Sliding level:
1. Enter the Red Sliding level.
2. Jump to the left as soon as you exit the tunnel.
3. With a little practice you can land on the later part of the course, saving you valuable time. Complete the course
in under 21 seconds to receive a Star.
This shortcut works in the ice/blue sliding level.
1. Pass the first two turns.
2. Do not turn at the third turn.
3. Let yourself fall slightly to the left.
Invisible Bomb-om
You need to have already have done the Big Bomb-om trick, and after the blast, your hands will still be held out like
you're holding an invinsible Bomb-om. You can walk around and jump & stuff, nothing will happen. But if you throw it,
you throw the invisible Bomb-om and that's it.
Climb Steep Surfaces
In star 1-2, when you start the race, go through the trench and then long jump onto the marble slope. Now keep holding
the A button and press the B button repeatedly. You will then jump-kick your way up the slope and end up on a part of the
mountain if done correctly. This should save you a lot of time on the race. This technique works elsewhere too.
Easy Star 6 in Wet-Dry World
To get star 6 in Wet-Dry World the easy way, just go to Wet-Dry World and go to town. Once you're there, go into the cage
with the star in it (don't hit the ! Switch.) Once your cap runs-out, wall-kick off the fence and onto the ledge!
Visit Yoshi
1. Collect all 120 Stars
2. Go to the Castle Gardens
3. The grid near the Fish Pond will open, revealing a cannon
4. Shoot yourself onto the roof of the Castle and Yoshi will be there!
5. It's a short visit, but he'll give you 99 lives and a triple-jump move before he leaves!
Extra Lives from Moles
You can get 1 extra life on any of the levels with moles. If you jump on 6 Moles there will appear a secret life.
Belly Flop
To make Mario do a belly flop, do a sideflip but press A and B simultaneously.
Bowser Shortcuts
On the third Bowser, I find a small part of the level very annoying, so I found a way to skip it. On the first "vertical
merry-go-round" (the one with the visible life in the middle), duck. When you reach the peak of the revolution, jump.
If you timed right, Mario should flip onto a platform above him.
When you get half way up the first part of the metal ramp (the part where you can stand still and not fall before the
first flame thrower), turn around and do a long jump. If you did this correctly you will be on the checkered platform with
the small firebreathing plant.
Extra Lives on the Ice Stage
To find some extra lives on the Ice stage:
1. On the first Ice stage, begin your slide.
2. On the first left turn, head for the row of Coins.
3. You'll slide into a tunnel that holds 2 extra lives.
Bounce Kick
While running, press Z + B to do a flying bounce kick.
Hat Trick
Go to the desert level in the basement, then choose any level other than #1. Go to the palm tree by the red bomb-omb buddy.
Let the bird take your hat, then stand on the closest piller and when the bird flies around the piller, hit him so he drops
the hat, but don't pick it up. Stand under the palm tree until you teleport by the cannon. Then teleport back to the palm
tree.
Every time you do this, another hat will fall on top of the one before it. After you do this 50 times, the game will screw-up
and freeze.
Kill Bowser in Seconds
This is easy to pull off on Bowser One, but a bit harder on Bowser Two or Three. Run behind him and grab his tail. As
soon as Mario picks it up, drop it by pressing B again. Then run in front of Bowser and press B. Mario should've punched thin
air, but Bowser will actually transport from behind Mario to his tail being in Mario's mitts! Use this technique to lure him
into a bomb.
Hidden Coins
Run around any wooden post five times to receive five coins.
Extra Lives Outside
When you are outside, and the water is gone, go under the bridge and locate two yellow coins. Do a side jump and then
a wall kick to get them. When you get the second coin a 1-up should fall. Run over to it and collect it. Enter the basement
or the main castle door, then come out again and recollect your 1-up. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Escape the Black Room of Death
For years people thought that the only way to escape the Black Room of Death (the bug where you jump into the middle pillar
of the castle) was resetting the game. Well, I have found the way to escape it. When you are inside the Black Room of Death
on the inside view of the castle put yourself against the right side of the room. Make sure that you can't see Mario. Now
run or jump towards the wall that would be on the side of the door to the outside. You should jump through the wall and be
free of the Black Room of Death.
Butterfly Punching
Sometimes in the game you will see a bunch of butterflies fly out of a tree or grass. Punch or touch any of them and they
will turn into a 1-UP. Also some of the butterflies turn into bombs.
Camera Trick
After you've won the game, you can control the camera angle in the scene where Mario is talking to the Princess. To do
so, use the analog stick on Controller Two. You can also do this on the Credits screen.
Change Obstacle Speed
To change the obstacle speed on Course 14, try this. For slower obstacles, enter when the minute hand is on 3. To stop
them completely, enter when the minute hand is on 12. For the more ambitious, enter when the minute hand is on 6 for a greater
challenge, or 9 for the ride of your life!
Unlimited Lives - American Version
When you start a game outside of the castle go to the third tree from the waterfall climb it and get the extra life. Now
go into the castle door and comeback out again to get another life, you can keep on doing this forever.
Healing
If your power meter is low dive into the nearest pool of water. When you resurface your power meter will be restored.
Shortcut In Rainbow Ride
At the very beginning, turn away from the first carpet. You should see a pole. Do a long jump at the pole and climb it.
Now, jump so you land on the stone block next to the pole. From there, jump onto the round spinning block and you'll basically
be at the point where the first carpet drops away.
Hint: Clock Times
Jumping into the Tick Tock Clock level during different times on the clock face will yield different effects:
12:00 - The mechanical parts of the level will stop.
3:00 - The mechanical parts of the level will move slowly.
6:00 - The mechanical parts of the level will move erratically.
9:00 - The mechanical parts of the level will move quickly.

Beat Piranha Plant Challenge
Enter as Yoshi without star or lefty, your opponent is most likely to be Baby Mario, if it isn't reenter until it is.
Wait for him to go real close to the net then do a lob shot (A and then B) if it works properly, he won't go for the ball.
If he goes far from the net, stop lob shooting and do a regular shot away from him.
Super Mario Sunshine
Return to the Airport
Once you've beaten the game (and saved your game), you will be able to go back to the Airport from the very beginning.
It'll cost you, though. For the price of 10 coins, a boat close to the clocktower where you find Yoshi will take you to the
Airport level -- which is filled with coins and fun stuff to do. Give it a try!
Sunglasses and Hawaiian Shirt
Want to see Mario in a different outfit than his trademark blue overalls and red shirt? How about putting on some shades
and slipping into a shirt that would make even Tom Selleck jealous? The shades are easy to get. Look for a man with black
sunglasses in the hub world (he's at the beach, close to the fruit stands) or in most of the other levels and talk to him.
When you've gotten 30 Shines, he'll give you a pair of sunglasses to wear, which will darken your screen appropriately. Note,
the sunglasses will disappear the moment you step into another level or restart the game.
The same guy will also give you a Hawaiian shirt -- but you've got to do some work first: finish the game. If you've saved
your game after you beat the last big boss, you'll be able to get your shirt anytime you talk to this guy.
Secret Moves
There are a couple of undocumented moves in Super Mario Sunshine that come in handy:
* Sprinkler Backflip: While spraying water forward (standard nozzle), press the A button to perform this backflip
that sprays water at the same time.
* Water Slide: Create a small puddle of water in front of yourself, then perform a head dive. You will now slide forward
on your belly, slowly picking up speed until you cancel the slide by pressing A.
* Yoshi Sprinkler: You already know that you can get rid of large areas of paint quickly by rotating the Analog Stick
quickly, then pressing R to send Mario's water whizz everywhere. You can also do this while riding Yoshi.
Feed Yoshi Remotely
If you need to dismount Yoshi for a long time and do not want it to run out of juice, leave Yoshi near some fruit and
it will auto-feed itself when its juice meter dips low.
Fast Lives No.2
After obtaining the Rocket Nozzle in Delfino Plaza, blast to the roof of the building directly behind the fountain where
your nozzle boxes are located. Go down the pipe to enter Sirena Beach. Be sure that you select episode-1 (The Manta Storm).
Head immediately toward your left and ground-pound the middle crate. An extra life will appear. Then go to the right-side
of the board where the electrical slime is. Clear the slime between the hut and the tree to rescue two friendly characters.
Talk to them and they'll each give you an extra life. Exit the area and repeat as often as you like. This takes less than
a minute.
Music Fudging
This trick works on the Gelato Beach level in the stage, "Wiggler Ahoy! Full Steam Ahead!". Battle Wiggler as
usual, then, when you've ground pounded the worm the third time, you'll hear the boss music slow down. Before the Shine Sprite
appears, press Z to view your map.
If you timed the Z press correctly, you'll hear the slower remix of the boss music! In the map mode, hit cancel, then
IMMEDIATELY press the Z button again to listen to a much faster remix! This doesn't give you any extra lives or anything,
BUT it is useful if you love game music!
Bubba-Proof
In Gelato Beach and other levels where there are Bubbas (the big red fish that drags Mario underwater), you can keep them
from doing this attack with this little trick.
Pick up a piece of fruit and start swimming with it. It will enable a glitch where they cannot drag you. This is very
useful for the Red Coin Shine in Gelato Beach.
Fast Lives
You can quickly gain lives once you finish the game:
* Start by collecting 10 coins then going to the Airport.
* Next, collect 50 gold coins at the Airport.
* Now, select quit without saving to return to town.
* Head back to the Airport and collect 10 coins to reach the magic 50 mark again.
* Repeat ad nauseum.
Conserve Lives
To build up Mario's stock, try to quit stages when you are about to die. This would apply to stages like the racing stages
(with the Islander who likes to race) and some of the mini-stages (like the Pachinko stage).
If you can restart the stage easily (and quickly), you should learn to quit when Mario is in danger of dying. This will
let you have a large stock of lives to tackle stages and mini-stages that you want a lot of lives to spend on (the Dead Leaf
in a Dirty Brook mini-stage comes immediately to mind).
Even Faster Lives
Go to Pianta Village and Choose the episode titled "Piantas in Need" and save all the Piantas and the villagers
who gave you blue coins before will now give you 1-ups instead.
Yoshi spin jump
You can use Yoshi to jump much higher than the normal yoshi hover jump by rotating the analogue and pressing A, the spin
jump can be executed as with Mario as well but you have the added bonus of being able to hover by holding A at the peak of
the jump.
Running Nozzle Trick
When you get the running nozzle, (The one that dark Mario steals) then you can do a trick where you use it but do not
run your water down. What you do is that you hold R to charge up. Once charged, you will run, but once you run, jump and let
go of R. Then before you land, you quickly hold R again, but hold it about half way down. You will still be running, but you
won't lose any water. Try it and see for yourself.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Alternate Music
To listen to alternative music tracks on select stages press and hold either one of the two analog trigger buttons (L
or R) when picking your stage. The following stages have alternate music tracks available:
* Great Bay: Saria's Song
* Hyrule Temple: Fire Emblem
* Icicle Mountain: Balloon Fight
* Big Blue: Mach Rider
* Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Bros. 3
* Onett: Earthbound (2)
* Pokemon Stadium: Pokemon Battle Theme
* Mushroom Kingdoms I and II: Dr. Mario
* Battlefield: Multi-Man Melee Theme
* Final Destination: Alternate SSBM Theme
Stages
SSB Melee has a lot of stages to select from. While the select screen only indicates you can unlock five there are actually
more than that. Note that there is a certain random element to the unlocking of the first four stages. Sometimes, the first
stage you unlock isn't Brinstar. If it didn't unlock at 50 matches, it will unlock at 100, 150, or 200.
* Planet Zebes: Brinstar Depths (Metroid) -- Play 50 Vs. matches.
* Eagleland: Fourside (Earthbound) -- Play 100 Vs. matches.
* F-Zero Grand Prix: Big Blue (F-Zero) -- Play 150 Vs. matches.
* Kanto Skies: Poké Floats (Pokémon) -- Play 200 Vs. matches.
* Mushroom Kingdom II (Super Mario Bros. 2) -- Get Birdo or Pidgit trophy from Super Mario Bros. 2.
* Superflat World: Flat Zone (Game & Watch) -- Unlock Mr. Game & Watch and defeat Classic mode with him.
* Battlefield -- Defeat All-Star Mode (secret mode) with any character.
* Final Destination -- Clear all 51 Event Matches.
* Dream Land (Classic N64 Kirby Stage) -- Complete Target Test successfully with all 25 characters.
* Yoshi's Island (Classic N64 Yoshi Stage) -- Hit 1,323 feet (or more) in the Homerun Contest with Yoshi.
* Kongo Jungle (Classic N64 DK Stage) -- Finish 15-minute Melee with any character (Tip: use Donkey Kong with his
down+B ground slap).
Random Stage Switch -- Unlock all secret stages (except for the classic N64 stages and Battlefield and Final Destination)
to reveal a random stage switch. As soon as you start your melee from the character select screen the match will start. This
means you don't have to waste time loading the stage select menu.
Hidden Characters
Naturally Super Smash Bros. Melee is filled with playable characters. There are 14 selectable as soon as you boot it up,
but you'll find another 11 waiting for you to be unlocked for a total cast lineup of 25 characters. There are genuinely new
characters as well as clones. Clones usually share the same moves and attacks as one of the main characters with some subtle
adjustments. Apparently there are several ways of unlocking characters either via Vs. matches or single-player mode. Once
the conditions are met, the secret character will appear and challenge you to a battle. Win the battle, and you get the character.
Here's the ways to do it:
* Jigglypuff -- Clear Adventure or Classic mode with any character or play Vs. more than 50 times.
* Luigi -- Luigi's appearance depends entirely on your level time for the first Adventure mode level. The time stops
the moment you jump the "flag" finish line at the end of the Mushroom Kingdom sidescrolling level. Look at your
seconds counter and try to time it so that you get a "2" (as in Luigi, the #2 Mario Brother) in your seconds (like
22, 52, 24, etc). If you got it right, you will see Luigi appear over Princess Peach's Castle in Adventure mode during a cut-scene.
Complete the Adventure and he will appear after the credits. Or: Play Vs. Mode more than 800 times.
* Young Link (Clone of Link) -- Clear Classic or Adventure mode with 10 characters (two of which have to be Link and
Zelda/Sheik) or complete 500 Vs. matches.
* Dr. Mario (Clone of Mario) -- Clear Classic or Adventure mode with Mario without using continues (Tip: use Very
Easy difficulty) or play more than 100 Vs. matches.
* Ganondorf (Clone of Captain Falcon) -- Clear Event Match 29 or play more than 600 Vs. matches.
* Pichu -- Clear 200 Vs. Matches, clear Event Match 37, or conquer Classic mode with Mewtwo.
* Marth -- Use the original 14 characters at least once in Vs. or another regular mode, or play more than 400 Vs.
matches.
* Roy (Clone of Marth) -- Clear Classic Mode with Marth without using a continue or play more than 900 Vs. matches.
* Falco (Clone of Fox) -- Clear 300 Vs. Matches or beat the 100-Man Melee.
* Mewtwo -- Rack up 20:00 hours in Combined Vs. Play Time or play 700 Vs. matches.
* Mr. Game & Watch -- Clear Target Test, Classic, or Adventure mode with all 24 characters. Or: play more than
1,000 Vs. matches.
Fight Big Kirby
In adventure mode, if you beat the Kirby Team in less than a minute, you will fight a bigger, fatter, version of Kirby.
Start Battle as Sheik
Want to start a battle as Sheik, not as Zelda? Keep on holding down the A button when you pick Zelda on the character
select screen. When the battle begins, you will hear the "unlock chime" from Legend of Zelda and you will start
out as Sheik.
Alternate method by steve the gamegod is to choose Zelda, then highlight a stage and press L and/or R when confirming
your choice. When the match begins, you will hear a chime and Shiek will appear on the screen instead of Zelda.
Hidden Modes
There are several hidden modes of play hidden within the single-player mode as well as the options menu. Event Matches
are a huge part of single-player and at first sight it appears there are only 30. However, as you unlock new characters and
stages new Event challenges will be revealed.
* Event Matches 31-39 -- You'll need to unlock Jigglypuff, Luigi, Dr. Mario, Falcon, and Young link on top of clearing
the first 30 Event Matches.
* Event Matches 40-50 -- Unlock all hidden characters and stages.
As a special treat there is an extra Event Match that allows you to unlock the special Sound Test feature in the options
menu.
* Event Match 51 -- Clear all previous events.
* Sound Test -- Unlock every stage and character.
For die-hard players, there is also a hidden Score Display option:
* Score Display -- Get a total of 5000 KOs and you will unlock this option that lets you see the players' scores during
a match (instead of afterwards).
Finally there is a secret All-Star mode which sends you fighting all 25 characters in a gauntlet-type setup. You will
have access to three heart recovery items, but no more so you'll have to ration your energy properly.
* All-Star mode -- Unlock all 25 secret characters.
It should be noted that there are numerous hidden trophies that unlock randomly with your progress, so be sure to keep
your Vs. Match count high and complete as much as possible if you're looking for more trophies.

Home Run Hit (Alternate)
The Sandbag Trophy is very simple to get. Another user said to use Yoshi to get it, but its much easier to get if you
use Fox. First, pick up the bat, then slowly move towards the sandbag. Then, hit it once with the bat while Fox is stationary.
This should knock the bag very close to the edge (this may take a few tries, but you'll get it eventually). Then rapidly hit
the B button (but don't touch the control stick); Fox will use his blaster gun on the sandbag thus upping the hit percentage,
but the sandbag won't move. After you hear the announcer countdown to TWO, let off the B button and tap over and A to charge
the bat, you should have enough time to hit the bag with about one second left. Having a higher percentage of hits on the
sandbag makes it travel much farther. Using this method I got it to travel past 1000 yards, which is needed for the Sandbag
Trophy.
Homerun (Roy)
Use Roy and his UP + A on the bag about three or four times. While the bag is in the air and there's about 3 seconds left,
use Roy's Charge B move to send it flying past 1500 ft.
Reduce Lag Time
To cut your lag time after performing an aerial move in half, press L right when you're about to land on the ground.
Beating the 100 Man Spar
Here is one of the easier ways to beat the 100 man spar. Keep using DK's hand slap. Sometimes the wire frames won't come
down, so you can get under the ledge where they're standing on and then hit them from below.
Donkey Kong's Home Run Hit
Grab the punchbag and toss it the way you're facing--you'll lift it on your back. Now, run off the field with the bag
on your back and when the timer gets to "2" seconds or less throw the bag!
Quick Reset
If you are anywhere, such as the Melee battle screen, and you want to get back to the main screen, just press L + R +
START you'll be instantly transported to the main menu.
Fun With Trophies
While going to the Collection screen to view your trophies, hold L and the trophies will be displayed in rows. Hold R
and the trophies will be arranged in a circle. Hold Y and the trophies will be arranged in a triangle.
If you have Sound Test unlocked, note that the last music you listened to will also play while you view your trophies.
Pick Your Pose
You can select the pose your character strikes when you win a battle. Simply press B, X, or Y when the match ends. Each
button corresponds to a specific winning pose.
Easier 15 Minute Melee
To beat 15 minute melee the easy way, try Mewtwo and go to either edge of the arena. Once you get there, do the B attack
and just let the fighters run into you, they rarely hit you and they run into the ball charging.
Home Run with Link
To get an easy home run use Link or Young Link. Stand at the beginning stance and use full blast arrows. This will put
percentage on it and move it towards the edge. Now pick up the bat and do a smash attack. This should send the bag over 700
feet!
Home Run Hit
To get the needed distance in Home Run Hit (for some trophies) you will need to use Yoshi. Get the bat, then use Yoshi's
DOWN+B jumping attack (the paddle kick) to increase the tampon/bag's percentage as much as possible. Five (5) full contact
paddle kicks will be enough to send the giant tampon/bag flying with a Bat smash attack (TOWARDS+A).
Extend Samus' Grappling Beam
Rotate the D-PAD in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction very quickly while pressing Z, R, and A. Done correctly,
this will lengthen Samus' grappling hook for the duration of the match, but she will no longer automatically grab onto enemies
unless you press the A button.
Super Shield
Sure, you know that hitting L or R brings up a protective shield -- but how about making it last longer? When blocking,
hit L or R lightly (not all the way). This will create a much larger Super Shield that shrinks at a much slower rate than
the standard shield. The downside is that it's not as strong. If you want a more powerful shield, press L/R all the way.
Peach's Quick Float
In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Princess Peach is the ultimate throwback to Super Mario Bros. 2. Everything from plucking
radishes from the ground to using her dress to float for long distances. Her dress is without a doubt one of her most useful
tools. Knowing that Peach fanatics want to use it liberally, the developers of the game, HAL, have added in a quick float
feature. Instead of having to jump full height to activate the float, you can press Down + X/Y at any time to start floating.
Hold the button down to continue hovering. Use it while standing, and you can even hover inches above the ground if you like!
A graceful girl indeed.
Earn More Coins
Did you know that the amount of coins you receive after a match is directly related to how often you "smash"
the stick during battle? If you want to make easy money, enter the Adventure Mode and make your way all the way through the
first level. But before you exit, stand on a secure platform and wiggle the control stick right and left "Decathlon"
style. You don't even need to complete smash moves -- moving the stick all the way is enough to earn cash. When you exit and
finish the stage you will receive a much higher number of coins. You can do this in any mode or on any level, but you get
a lower amount of coins in Vs. Mode (unless all players do this trick at the same time).
Call Team Star Fox
Want to surprise your friends with an unexpected move? Fox McCloud has a cool easter egg maneuver that can only be pulled
off on the Great Fox and Venom stages. Find yourself a safe spot where you won't immediately be attacked by an opponent, then
rapidly press left, right, left, right on the digital pad. If you did it correctly, Fox will kneel down and call up his friends.
Falco, Peppy and Slippy will respond (their faces will appear at the bottom of the screen) and either give you useless advice
or tell you to get out of the way as they're about to attack your opponent. Not a very useful move, but a cool thing to amaze
your friends with nevertheless. Note that you can only perform this maneuver once every battle.
Random Character Select
Super Smash Bros. Melee has a built-in random character select feature. Simply place your coin in one of the empty spaces
on the selection screen (in the corner next to Pichu or on the opposite site). The game will automatically place your token
on a random character.
Random Character Tournaments
Want to set up a more interesting tournament with your friends? When you're at the character/name setup screen in Tournament
Melee mode, press the L and R buttons at the same time to change your character icon to Ditto (the shapeshifter of Pokemon
fame). This will set that player's character selection to random. Note that this will only work in the Winner Out/Loser Out
modes -- not the standard Tournament setting.
Easy Back From Select
Want to get back to the previous menu from the character select screen, but don't want to waste time going up and clicking
on "back?" Here's a little shortcut: simply hold down the B button and the cancel command will be triggered after
a second or so.
Fox and Falco's Fake Trick
Use Fox or Falco's Forward + B attack and press B exactly when you hear the wooshing sound and he will stay where he is
or it'll make his attack shorter. This can be used to fool other gamers or just make it shorter so you don't fall off the
edge.

Recipes
The following table shows you every recipe Toad Town's Tayce T. can cook up. In the beginning, you are limited to one
ingredient, but once you find the Cook Book in Chapter 4, Tayce T. is able to combine ingredients for new recipes. The Mystery
item acts in recipes the same way it would in battles -- you never know what you're gonna get. Any combination not listed
in this table will result in "The Mistake", so don't waste your items on experimental cuisine.

Luigi's Secret Diary
Did you know that Mario's often-neglected brother is keeping a secret diary about his life -- and possibly about his future
exploits? But don't take IGN Codes' word for it, check it out yourself! Go to Mario's House once you have the Spin Jump (you
can easily reach it from Toad Town by going into the green pipe near the entrance). Go into the bed room (the room to the
far left) and stand near the wall. You can open up a hidden passage in the floor by performing a Spin Jump. Jump into the
hole to find Luigi's secret hideout. Read Luigi's diary (it's on the table) to learn about Luigi's take on Mario's adventures.
One of the entries even hints at a future adventure starring Luigi. Note that new entries are added to the diary as you progress
through the game, so be sure to check back often.
Merlee's Tent
Ever talked to Merlee? This helpful witch lives in the desert town Dry Dry Outpost and can help you out on your quest
with some major spell power. To find her, go into the alley right next to Toad's House in Dry Dry Outpost (see the left picture
below). Jump forward over the left box and the camera will swing around to reveal a hidden area. Talk to Merlee to learn about
her special spells. Depending on how much money you spend (we suggest to go for the most expensive one for 50 coins), she
will help you in and after battles. The spell does wear off after a certain amount of time, but until then, it provides you
with additional attack power in some battles, more coins after battles, and the like.
Secret Playroom
There is a hidden Playroom in Toad Town where you can participate in games to earn cash. To access the Playroom, go South
in Toad Town until you get to the area with the Li'l Oink Farm. To get into the Playroom, go left immediately after you enter
this area (there is a narrow passageway that's not fenced off). Hit the tree with your hammer and a pipe will appear on the
right. You can now go into the Playroom, but note that you need either a Silver and/or the Gold card to play.
Hidden Hearts
On the way during Pleasant Path, when you are at the sign that says you can go to the fortress and Koopa Village, there
are three striped blue poles. You will notice that the one to the left will follow you with its eyes. If you run circles around
it, a bunch of hearts will appear, along with the classic Mario "Star" theme.
Classic Mario
In order to become Classic Mario you must be in Boo's Mansion. When you first enter Boo's Mansion you will see a door
on your right and a book case on your left. Go into the door on your right. When you first enter the room you will see a vase
with a box in front of it. Jump onto the box then jump into the vase. When you do this, you will pop out as the Classic Mario,
complete with the old sound effects. The transformation will wear off as soon as you leave the room.
Secret Pipes
After you get your Stone Hammer in the Dry Dry Ruins, head back to Toad Town and enter the Toad Town Sewers via the pipe
with the sign next to it that says "PRIVATE" (in the area where Tayce T. lives). To your left is a stone block that
can be broken with the Stone Hammer. Go through the tunnel and when you come out the other side there will be a fight with
a Giant Blooper. Defeat him and three warp pipes will pop up out of the floor! The one on the right goes to Goomba City, the
one in the middle goes to Koopa Village, and the one on the left goes to Dry Dry outpost. Now you can go back and forth through
the towns with no hassle!
There are also shortcuts to Boo's Mansion and Lavalava Land. For detailed descriptions on how to find them all, be sure
to check our Online Strategy Guide (registration required).
Lil' Oinks Secret
Wondering what the strange piggy farm near the Toad Town Train Station is for? Walk up to the shack to the left of the
pen and buy an egg by jumping on the small platform. Now walk over to the egg that comes out and hit it with your hammer.
An Oink of a random color will hatch and move into the pen. It doesn't get interesting until you have 10 Oinks. The moment
you hatch the 11th Oink, one Oink will have to get kicked out of the pen. It will then leave behind an item. There is one
catch, though. If you jump into the pen to grab the item, all Oinks will leave and you have to start over. So make sure the
item is really worth it.
The type of item is determined by the Oink's color. Here is the complete list, with White being the most common Oink,
and Gold being the rarest.

Radio Easter Eggs
Did you ever examine the radio in Koopa Village? Apart from some valuable hints it also lets you hear to a Golden Oldies
station -- which fittingly plays classic Mario theme music. To find the radio, go to the third house in Koopa Village (a Koopa
is sunning himself inside). Simply press A when you're standing in front of the radio to switch between stations.

Ms. Mowz
Take the trouble center quest that is given by a person marked as “???”. Talk to Ms Mowz above the
item shop. She'll ask for an elusive badge in Hooktails castle. Go to Hooktails castle to where you fought Hooktail and walk
around until a ! appears over you and blow with Madame Flurrie to get the badge. Once you get the badge, go back on top of
the cook’s shop and the mouse thief will join your team.

Timing For Styles
To get help on landing those Stylish moves, get the badge called "Time Tutor" or "Timing Tutor" or
something similar to that. With that badge equipped, when you are in battle, if there is an opportunity to add a little Style
to your attacks and moves, a little "!" speech bubble will appear above your character at the moment you should
press the A Button.
Unlockable Games

* Paper Parlor Game: Do the "Save My Daddy!" Sidequest By Pine. T Jr.

* Tube Parlor Game: Do the "Important Thing!" Sidequest By Frankie
Style
Directly after a hammer attack, or at the highest point after a jump attack, tap A again and Mario will do a stylish trick
earning him more star points. This works for his allies as well. Tap A directly after doing Koops shell throw and he will
spin on his back earning more style.
Easy Money
Once you've gotten to PetalBurg in the First Chapter you can use a trick to make easy money. First go to RougePort and
buy as many sleepy sheep as you can carry, making sure to fill up your storage box aswell. When your pockets and storage box
is full, head over to PetalBurg. Once at Petalburg, go into the Item Shop to sell your sleepy sheep for a 2 coin profit per
sheep. Make sure you remember to withdraw and sell all the sleepy sheep you stored. To increase productivity, on the way back
to rougueport, stock up on turtley leaves, again filling up the storage box, and sell them at the item shop where you picked
up the sleepy sheep to gain 2 coins per leaf.
Hint: After getting Taste T. you can cook the leaves into koopa tea for an extra 1 coin per leaf.
Extra Clothes
There are 3 extra cloths Mario can wear, his only changes marios clothing color, not his physical appearance.
* If you collect the W Emblem badge from Charlieton, the traveling salesman, equip it to change into Wario's clothes.
* If you collect the L Emblem badge from Poshley Sanctum, equip it to change into Luigi's clothes.
* Equip both the W and L Emblem badges to change into Waluigi's Clothes.
Emblem Badges
In the game, there are two Emblem badges. They are the W Emblem, and the L Emblem. Finding these badges is tough. Equipping
the W Emblem will make Mario use Wario's Costume. Equipping the L Emblem will make Mario use Luigi's Costume.During Chapter
4, Charlieton (The BIG guy in Rogueport Plaza, South of the cook's house.) will sell the W Emblem for 360 coins.
It is rumored that equipping the W and L Emblems at the same time will unlock Waluigi's costume, but it's a rumor, so
don't get mad if it DOESN'T work.
Infinite Shop Points
First you will have to have given Zest T. her new contact lense. Then buy a lot of mushrooms at the shop in RoguePort
for 5 coins each. Then cook them all into Shroom Frys at Zest T.'s. You can sell the Shroom Frys back for 5 coins, the same
price you paid for the mushrooms. Using this you can gain free shop points. Note: This trick only works once you have Zest
T.
Free Tattle
Go to Profesor Frankly's office and press the big green button (A) at his garbage and info about a random enemy and is
transferred to your tattle log.
hadow Palace Maze
In the shadow palace you will eventually run into a hallway with 4 doors and many stairs. This is a maze. All of the rooms
look the same except for one thing: the torches. Follow the position of the flame (and the door nearby) to get through the
maze.
Whack a Mole
In chapter 5 on Keelhaul Key, walk to the northwest of the camp. Talk to the mole and hit him with your hammer he will
leave behind a bump, get the bump. You can leave the area and go back there again to repeat this. Or, after you finish the
pirate’s grotto you can enter the grotto through the hole in the mountain and exit, then whack the mole again and
again. This way is a lot faster. You can sell them in different places for different profit.
* The shop in the Rougeport plaza - 55 coins.
* The shop next to Pianta Parlor - 64 coins
* Excess Express - 100 coins
* Every other shop will only give you 50 coins.
Hint List
* You can skip atomic boo then come back for him later
* If you have zap tap on, enemies like fuzzies and swoopulas can’t hurt you.
* To get information that you need to pay for eg. how to get to don pianta, stories, old wonkey. You can save, then
listen to them, then reset to keep your cash.
* You can’t have more than 999 coins.
The Secret Behind the Title
The big ship you see there has pulleys and chains. Well, back in the old days during pirate time, Captains would keelhaul
shipmates by tying them to pulleys and lowering them in the water. Thus, leading the pulleys to the other side of the ship,
scraping the shipmates on the bottom of the ship. Many pirates died from lack of air and injuries back then. That is why the
name is Keelhaul! Torturous don't you think!
Turn into NES Mario
Just like in the first Paper Mario, there is an easter egg to revert Mario from paper to 8-bit sprite. Only this time
it works on your partners too! In the X-Naut Base in Chapter Seven. Find the room with the swinging grate on Sublevel 2. Stand
under it and use your Ultra Jump to jump up into the air vent. Press R and slide through the grate on the far right. You'll
land in the changing room where Peach disguised herself, inside one of the stalls. When you pull back the curtain, you and
your partner will be a sprite. This change does not affect game play and will wear off when you leave the room.

Taunt Your Opponent (Or Being Obnoxious)
If playing a multiplayer game (with multiple controllers), press any button or use the C-Stick when it isn't your turn
to taunt the opponent. Each character has four separate taunt phrases/sounds. Pressing and holding a button and moving t.opeeft
analog will yield more (and nastier) phrases.
When you taunt you can either use the C-stick for nice taunts or the D-pad for evil taunts. This makes it easy to do multiple
taunts for maximum annoyance of other players for when you want the others to screw up in really competitive games where heavy
bets have been placed. Just roll your thumbs on the d-pad and c-stick and it will make their mind twist and flip.
Restart Hole
At any time in any one-player game mode that allows you to save (i.e. Tournament Mode, Character Matches), you can restart
a hole you're doing poorly on. Save the game and when you reload you will begin at your drive and all uses of Power and all
shots will be erased, giving you a second chance.

Starting Line Boost
When you fall off the track, when the little cloud man bring you back to the track, if you press the gas button right
when the wheels touch the ground, you'll also get a little boost. Courtesy of fUble_baSs.
You get a boost at the start if you press A right after the lights turn green. You can also get a much larger boost though
in co-op when both players press A at the same time. Courtesy of Duncan.
To receive a boost at the beginning of a race, hit A at the same time the announcer says go. If timed correctly, you will
jump to the head of the pack.
Mushroom city boosts
Mushroom-looking vehicles cluttering the road on the Mushroom City course, unlike other vehicles on the track, will not
send your racer into a spin if bumped into. Instead, bump into one of the mushroom vehicles and they'll drop a mushroom item
that you can use for a turbo boost.
Boost After Revival
At times you may be replanted on the track by a floating ally, usually after you've fallen off of the track. To get a
free boost as he drops you, hit the accelerator just before you touch the ground. The timing is tricky, but it's worth the
effort.
Alternate Routes
These alternate routes, while not always faster than the normal route, may often give you more items than you'd normally
get!
* Luigi Circuit: After you go off the first speed boost jump after the starting gate, if you hang a right there is
a little path behind the chain chomp post. Before the second U-turn, there is another alternate route behind some pipes. I
found it's not much use. (These for Luigi Circuit only work in 100cc, 150cc.)
* Peach Beach: Before the first item row, there is a left turn that leads you into a pipe that shoots you out into
a double item. Unfortunately, it does not help you any. Before the finish line, instead of going straight, turn left and go
around the fountain. There are 2 double items, but it's longer to go that way.
* Mushroom Bridge: Right after the starting line there is a ramp to the sharp right. Take it, go through a pipe, and
you are shot out to receive a double item. This one is also longer than just going on the track. Also, after the first tunnel,
there is a road to the left. Take it to avoid all the cars on this stretch of road and get an item.
* Mario Circuit: In Mirror mode, use a mushroom to go behind the chain chomp through the grass. If you can do it right,
it removes a few secs from your time. I found it best to use a light kart.
* Bowser’s Castle: In the big room where there is a bowser shooting fire balls instead of going around the
U turn like part go straight forward in to a gap on the side of the track. Make sure you don’t just drive into it
you have to power slide to the right otherwise you will fall right off the other side!
Lightning Safe
If a lightning bolt is used right when you get hit by a shell, banana, etc.-you won’t get hurt. Same if you
fall off the course.
Race Track Shortcuts
* Daisy Cruiser: After grabbing the first item, you should see a small set of stairs and a pool. After descending
the stairs immediately take a right and hug the wall. You should eaisly go around the outside of the pool and shave a couple
seconds.
* Peach Beach: Best used on the third lap. When you come to the beach, instead of turning right, turn left and jump
to the other side.
* Mushroom Bridge: (1) After the first tunnel, go right onto a dirt path (best used with a mushroom). (2) Right before
you cross the bridge, go onto one of the arches where you'll start hitting speed areas. Be careful to stay on because you
lose a lot of speed if you fall off.
* Daisy Cruiser: After going through the dining room and past the kitchen, go fall down in the pit and navigate through
the tube.
* Mushroom City: Stay on the right side of the main road and you will see a purple path--take it!
* Yoshi Circuit: (1) After one of the first turns you will see a small tunnel. Use a mushroom to fly across. (2) After
the second tunnel there is an opening on the guard rail. Use a Mushroom to fly across and land in a tunnel, and you'll pop
out at a U-turn.
* Wario Colliseum: When you come to the part where you have to go around the pit, go in the middle and jump to land
on speed areas.
* Dino Dino Jungle: (1) When you come to the first wooden bridge take a right just a bit and you'll find a new ramp.
(2) When you enter the cave, go right and use a mushroom to get across the bridge.
* Bowser Castle: Where a Bowser statue is breathing fireballs at you keep going straight to an opening. Start a drift
right before you make the jump, and if you do it right you should gain a lot of ground.
* Waluigi Stadium: when you reach the second turn, before the boosted jump into the fire wheel, take a right, and
drive on the dirt path right next to it. Powerslide/Mini-Turbo around the corner afterwards.
* DK Mountain: After the straightway with the boulders, where the pit is, brake immediately and turn to your right.
Give yourself a little acceleration room and jump the gap, saving 3-4 seconds.
* Dry Dry Desert: There are two options to mushroom over the sand. The best area is right after the 3 cacti, straight
towards the quicksand pit. The second is near the end: mushroom under the sign.
Perform a Double Dash
When you play 2-player co-op mode, it is possible to perform a prolonged boost aka a Double Dash off of the starting line.
Simply have both players on the team perform the plain boost at the beginning of the race (Press the A Button at the right
time). A Double Dash will allow you to boost for a longer period of time, and the flames will be blue instead of red.
