Here's a page dedicated to the one we all know and love, the one who made it all possible, Mario.

Mario was born on April 15, 1958 (I just picked the date randomly). After conception, the stork was delivering baby Mario and his brother Luigi to his parents when Kamek, who realized that the babies spelt trouble for the Koopas, tried to steal the babies away. Kamek snatched Luigi, missing Mario (safely, he fell onto a Yoshi's back). The Yoshies then defeat Kamek and reunite the two brothers.

Not much can be said of how he managed to get through his teen years. At the ripe age of six he displayed an intrest in pipes and at eight actually did some plumbing at his parent's house in Brooklyn, New York. It did not help Mario's confidence though by being fat. Kids teased him about this all day at school about this. Mario never had any real friends at school (other than Luigi) and never dated in high school. College was much the same, except that he did meet one girl, named Pauline Testville at the Brooklyn Plumbing Academy.

Mario made headlines on a dreary June 8, 1980 day when a huge monkey, called Donkey Kong stormed the streets of New York and captured Mario's love, Pauline. Determined, Mario overcame Kong's attacks and freed Pauline. (The story of Mario and Donkey Kong is as folows: After Mario rescued Pauline, he captured the giant ape and held him captive in a cage. This angered Donkey Kong's son, Donkey Kong Jr., who set out to free his father. Mario (with the help of Luigi) managed to get DK to a tropical island but couldn't escape before DK Jr. arrived. Mario and DK Jr. clashed and in the end, DK Jr. won, bringing his father back to Kongo Island, their homeland. For 17 years there was resentment between the Kongs and Mario (though not Luigi....), this was finally stopped in January 1997, when the two (Mario and DK) historically shook hands proclaiming their forgiveness to the other, in front of millions who were watching on TV and in the stands of Luigi Raceway, who were there for the opening race of the new Mario Kart 64 circuit. Mario realized that the hatred he had for the Kongs was unnatural. He heard of DK's misfortunes and quests against King K. Rool and also that DK had just stumbled on New York in 1980 as he searched for banannas to feed his starving people. Unfortunately for Mario, the relationship fell through, although he did have some confidence after defeating Kong in the Super Mario Cart circuit.

This was how he became known to the Mushroom Kingdom. News of Mario's victory had spread there, and it was the subject of great curiosity there. Then the day came when Bowser enslaved the Mushroom people with his black magic. One day (June 11, 1986) Toad, one of the mushroom retainers, who was held captive along with Princess Toadstool (the only one who could reverse the spell) and the other mushroom retainers, remembered Mario's plight in Brooklyn and decided to call him through a pipe that lead to Brooklyn. Toad wasn't sure if it would work, but hey, it was worth a shot.

Fortunately for him, it worked. Mario and Luigi were working on a broken sink one day when they heard faintly "Mario! Come save us! We are the Mushroom people and we need your help! Bowser has enslaved us all with his magic and has captured the Princess, the only one who can reverse it. Please save us..." Startled, Mario decided to call back down the pipe. "Is anyone there?" he yelled. When the same voice replied "yes" Mario and Luigi knew that they weren't hearing things. "How do we reach you?" Luigi asked. "Just jump down the drainage pipe you are working on. You might not land where I am, but you will be in the Mushroom Kingdom" Confused, Mario and Luigi did just that. They left a note for the customer saying that they "had left for personal reasons. Here is the pay that you owe us," actually leaving the amount of pay that they were owed on the sink's counter.

That's how the Mario Bros. Legend started. As we all know, Mario and Luigi defeated Bowser and rescued the Mushroom People. The Mushroom People loved them and made them honorary citizens. They did resettle in Brooklyn for a time, but resettled in the Mushroom Kingdom once and for all February 16, 1987.

Time and time again, when Bowser would try to take over the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario and Luigi would save the day. Natuarlly, news of Mario's successes spread to other lands. On Februay 2, 1988, Mario heard from Sub-Con in a dream and on May 16, 1991, he heard from Sarassasaland, which were both conquered by Wart and Tatanaga respectively and enslaved.

Mario became so successful that on Janurary 5, 1992, the Mushroom Kingdom established Mario Land - a huge plot of land that would house Mario and Luigi in a splendid castle. There was even a Mario statue placed on the grounds.

This upset Wario, a Mario "wannabe" who conquered Mario Land when Mario was vacationing on Dinosaur Land (it wasn't much of a vacation: Bowser was there too and conquered Dinosaur Land, enslaving the resident Yosies and kidnapping the Princess AGAIN). When Mario heard of this, he went back to Mario land and liberated it from Wario's clutches. Four years later, Mario rescued the Mushroom castle from Bowser. With this, Bowser gave up, accepting the peace offer the Mushroom Kingdom had offered him. Besides, he was grateful that Mario freed his castle for him one year earlier from Smithy.

In February, 2001, "Paper Mario," a movie by Ralf Svetofsky (a Mushroom resident) will be released. It is a fictitious story about a Mario-vs.-Bowser battle starring Mario and Bowser (and a whole cast of others) themselves - but was really a tribute to the greatest plumber in Mushroom history - Mario Mario.

Much later, Mario was taking a break during training for the Mushroom Games when Luigi frantically approached him, telling Mario that he had won a mansion. "That's suspicious", Mario replied, "You didn't even enter any contest". Both began to ponder the meaning of the message. Fearing something evil was afoot, Mario decided to go to the mansion. Luigi would have tagged along right beside him, but fright got the better of him and the two agreed that Mario would go ahead and Luigi would meet him there. When Mario arrived, he found a house haunted by ghosts. Seeing the main doors locked, he went up to the Parlour, only to get surrounded by ghosts. Proffesor Elvin Gadd did manage to break in and try to save Mario, but one of the ghosts escaped his grasp and took Mario with him. For one long week Mario was encased in a painting, as a result of none other than King Boo. Luigi discovered his fate once he went down a well during his adventure and later he defeated the King Boo to liberate his brother on June 1, 2002...
